Okay, so maybe they weren’t dressed in black. Or wearing sunglasses. But they were well-dressed, standing at the door, and looking around our classroom.

I approached the pair. “May I help you?”

“Is this the Mac Lab?”

“Yes, it is.”

“Do you know how much bandwidth you use?”

The former teacher had maintained Valhalla’s website.

Now that was my responsibility.

In hindsight, this seems suspiciously convenient. You know, because I needed a website to survive.

And now there was a problem.

My panic subsided as they shared their solution.

Context: Without that kind of district support, this would be a very different story.

When the district moved all school sites to a new CMS, admin took control of Valhalla’s website. (That was a very good day.) The Mac Lab remained a WordPress island in a Joomla sea.
